New study provides a recap of the 2019 Colorado Legislative Session

Denver, CO – Today, Common Sense Policy Roundtable (CSPR) released, “Authorizing Uncertainty: A Recap of the 2019 Colorado Legislative Session and Outlook for the Colorado Economy.”

According to the study, “the policies passed by the 2019 General Assembly will impact the cost of doing business in Colorado and could have significant repercussions for the Colorado economy. However, there remains a high level of uncertainty surrounding the implementation and regulatory framework of many new laws.”

The study rates bills that impact the fiscal health of the state economy and assigns one of three ratings:

  • Buy – The new law is expected to improve the economic outlook for Colorado relative to historic annual growth and national/global trends;
  • Hold – The impact of the new law on the economic outlook for the Colorado economy is uncertain but could be significant; and,
  • Sell – The new law is expected to harm the economic outlook for Colorado relative to recent historic annual growth and national/global trends.

“From our perspective, this was not a good session for Colorado’s business climate,” said CSPR President and CEO Kristin Strohm. “We simply cannot take our economy for granted. This session, legislators introduced a high level of uncertainty to the business community, new laws passed by the General Assembly could put Colorado at a disadvantage when it comes to competing for new investments.”
