Thank you for your inquiry about internship opportunities at Common Sense Institute. We are now actively hiring a Communications Intern for the Fall of 2020.

Position: Communications Intern
Compensation: Paid- $15-$18/hour
Hours: Part-time- 15-20 hours per week

Dates: The internship program will run from August-December 2020

Location: This is an in-person internship located in Greenwood Village, CO. CSI is aware of and is following applicable public health guidance on social distancing, infection-control practices, and environmental cleaning.

Common Sense Institute (CSI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit free-enterprise think tank, dedicated to developing deep insights into critical policy issues facing the state of Colorado. CSI is a non-partisan research organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of Colorado’s economy. We believe sound fiscal and economic research is essential to uphold Colorado’s economic vitality, future, and individual opportunity.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support writing and editing of reports.
  • Preparation of formatted presentations.
  • Design of research papers, presentations, and infographics.
  • Creation of social media content.
  • Creation of e-newsletters.
  • Website content and updates.
  • Research ways to improve our communication efforts and attract new target markets.
  • Tracking social media and website performance.
  • Additional communication duties as assigned (Mailings, picking up office supplies).

Essential Skills:

  • Critical thinker – Can you make logical arguments regarding impacts of policy changes?
  • Good communicator, with strong writing and editing skills – Are you able to articulate the crucial points needed to understand the impacts of the policy change in a clear and cohesive manner?
  • Team oriented – Do you enjoy working with others, sharing information and insights?
  • Knowledge or experience using Microsoft office products, design programs (InDesign, Canva), email platforms (Constant Contact), and social media programs (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) preferred, but not required.

Preferred Background:

Some coursework completed towards an undergraduate degree or those holding an undergraduate degree will be considered. Studying in area of marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design with an interest in economics and public policy.
