Colorado Succeeds & Common Sense Policy Roundtable Join Business Leaders and Candidates for Governor To Release New Study & Statewide Polling Data
Denver, CO – Despite having the No. 1 economy in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report, Colorado struggles with education. The state comes in at No. 20 for education and has the fifth-lowest high school graduation rate in the country.
A new study from Colorado Succeeds and Common Sense Policy Roundtable titled, “What if Colorado Schools Were No. 1 — A Business Guide for Colorado’s Next Governor,” determines the economic impact of Colorado’s education system.
Colorado Succeeds, Common Sense Policy Roundtable, and 18 partner organizations will join candidates for Colorado Governor at an event TODAY to release the new study.

The study set out to determine the economic impact of Colorado’s so-called “skills gap.” Its findings? Billions would be added to Colorado’s GDP over the next decade if the state were to boost its graduation rate to match the best in the nation.
The project uses the REMI model funded by the REMI Partnership, (a dynamic economic modeling program) to answer a vital question: What if Colorado high school graduates went on to earn the level of post-secondary education and training needed to meet the demands of Colorado’s economy? Also included in the Business Guide are recent statewide voter polling results, a statewide employer survey, and a candidate survey, all of which cover key education and talent development issues in Colorado.
